The Economics area at the Vijay Patil School of Management aims to contribute to policy formulation and debates through research and consulting activities. The area is engaged in teaching ideas and principles of economics at two levels. As part of management education, the area offers courses at the MBA and BBA levels. In addition, the area runs a full programme of B.Sc (Hons) Economics at the undergraduate level.
The teaching and research specializations of our faculty members encompasses a wide range of courses resulting in diverse core and electives being offered. Courses offered include Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Game Theory, Econometrics, International Trade, Development Economics and Indian Economy. These courses help students to understand the policy environment in which business organizations function. The core courses and electives offered help in training students to better understand the modern world economy and its complexities.
As an area, our aim is to stimulate intellectual development among students by making them aware of the issues at the crux of economics. Once aware of the choices available, students can choose to specialize in any area that interests them. In the process, they end up as better decision makers in today’s evolving economy.
